![]() What is metadata?Metadata is data about data. It provides information about the purpose of the data set, how the data is generated, how often is updated, and who created and maintains the data set.
XML Metadata WorkshopA one-day hands-on training workshop is available upon request for the South Carolina region. Training facilities are available within the immediate vicinity of Columbia, SC. On-site training is available to organizations with access to a training room or facility. Requirements: slide projector, internet access if available, GIS mapping software (ArcMap, CAD, or GeoMedia). Preferences are for 6 to 15 trainees per session (one person per workstation). USGS metadata software and materials will be provided, see Syllabus for more information.
